Non Exam Assessment - Deadlines

Year 11 NEA information

NEA stands for Non-Exam Assessment. This is when students prepare for and work to produce the NEA throughout their course with a final submission in the year they are sitting their exam.

At Oakbank, we have several NEA subjects and students are fully prepared within their lessons. To aid you supporting your child, please find a list of these subjects below with the following deadlines:

Art and Design/3D Art

10-hour exam and portfolio – w/b 29.04.24 (TBC)

Any student who did not complete this at the end of Year 10 will be completing this in lessons before 15.12.23

NEA Appeals Process

School working times are between 08:00 – 16:00 (Mon-Fri)

Step 1

Students receive mark for NEA in lesson – if student wishes to start appeal process, they must email Mr Mault (exams@oakbank.anthemtrust.uk) with 24 hours.

Step 2

Mr Mault will set up an Appeals Meeting to explain the appeals procedure to the student.

Student must turn up on time to Appeals Meeting (being 5 mins late terminates the appeal process).

Mr Mault explains the appeals process to student.

Student must verbally explain on what grounds they wish to appeal.

Step 3

If student still wishes to go ahead with appeals after Appeal Meeting, they will have 48 hours to submit an Appeals Form either in person to Mr Mault or via email (exams@oakbank.anthemtrust.uk)

Step 4

Within the 48 hours, student will be allowed access to a copy of their NEA in a controlled environment, supervised by Mr Mault. A mark scheme/criteria list will be provided. Mr Mault will email student to inform them of the date/time they can view their NEA.

Step 5

Once Mr Mault has received the Appeals Form, the internal review will take place and he will notify the student within 72 hours of the outcome.

Example scenario

  1. Student receives NEA grade during Lesson 2 on Mon 15th April 2024.
  2. Student has until the end of Lesson 2 on Tues 16th April 2024 to email Mr Mault.
  3. Mr Mault will set up an Appeals Meeting within 24 hours (latest meeting would be during Lesson 2 on Wed 17th April 2024).
  4. Once Appeal Meeting has happened, student can either reject appeal or wish to precede. If they wish to proceed, they will have 48 hours to submit Appeals Form (latest can be received would be by the end of Lesson 2 on Fri 19th April 2024).
  5. Once Appeal Form is received, Oakbank School will have 3 working days to investigate.
  6. Mr Mault emails and notifies student of outcome by end of 3-day investigation window.
  7. In this scenario the end of day 3 would be Wed 24th April 2024.

Total times: 24 hours (1 day) + 48 hours (2 days) + 72 hours (3 days) = 144 hours (6 days)
